The Green Team uncovered some unique sustainable products:
Caroline Saul
Caroline Saul is a designer/artist from the UK who works primarily with recycled, plastic milk jugs to create beautiful, intricate, perfectly colorful pieces. From trash to treasure – literally. Click here to check out Caroline’s full range of pieces online.
Green Kazoo
The Green Kazoo sleepin g bag by The North Face is made from 100 percent recycled fabrics including plastic water bottles, recycled garment fabrics, factory yarn waste, and leftover PE film used in fabric manufacturing. By using recycled fabrics, each bag reduces energy consumption by 84 percent and CO2 output by 77 percent.
Escama Purse
The unique purse featured here is made from over 700 aluminum pull-tabs recycled from soda cans. The bag artists work with craft cooperatives in economically depressed “satellite cities” outside of Brasília, Brazil. The cooperatives offer local women a means to earn money through handicrafts and business training. Prices are set by the cooperatives, artists are paid fairly for their work, and Escama donates 3 percent of gross annual sales directly back to the cooperatives. Each bag is individually handcrafted by one woman and comes with a personal note from the artist.
